Sony HDR CX700V High Definition camcorder is listed as one of the most expected camcorders from Sony handycam line since Sony CX550 is released last year. Sony CX700V features with 1920 x 1080 Full HD 60p/24p recording, 12MP still images, wide angle G lens, “Exmor R” CMOS sensor, enhanced manual controls and advanced controls.
The following is a list of pros and cons of Sony CX700V:
Sony CX700V Pros
- Wide angle which may avoid having to use a wide angle lens for many situations
- Full HD 1080/60p video recording for best quality of your memories.
- Compact and easy to use, great for people who like to walk and record a lot.
- Enhanced manual controls make video recording easy and smooth.
- 96GB of internal memory
- Expanded focus
- Multi-color peaking

Sony CX700V Cons
- Viewfinder is borderline useless. It has a micro wheel for diopter adjustment (viewfinder focus). This wheel moves anytime you open the viewfinder or move the camera. So you must use your shooting hand to manually refocus viewfinder every time you use it.
- Can’t shoot in full manual mode from exposure standpoint, i.e., can’t manually set shutter, iris, exposure all at the same time.
- 1080/60p AVCHD footage generated by CX700V is difficult to play and edit on Mac OS X
About CX700V 1080/60p AVCHD MTS footage
Although Sony CX700V provides really impressive video quality when we view in camcorder screen, 1080/60p AVCHD MTS clips is not easy to handle on Mac without bundled software Picture Motion Browser. Based on my personal experience, “Log and Transfer” in Final Cut Pro 7 does not recognize the 1080/60p footage from Sony CX700V. It seems that if Sony wants to force us to use third party transcoding software. Read The Full Story

Concerning the camcorders, my experience is mostly based on Sony (CX550), Canon ( HF10) and Panasonic (GH2, SD90) models. Some days ago I use my old Camcorder Canon Vixia HF10 recording 1920 x 1080 MTS files. And I want to organize my video collection instead of having several small or large mts files without any sense. More specifically, in a social occasion I would like to store 4 or 5 different parts in video files and not having to store 50 meaningless mts files.
So I need a Mac Software not only can cut unwanted .mts clips but also export lossless MTS. After google search, I found Final Mate for Mac is the recommended lossless split .mts clips on Mac.Then I download and try it. And I had succeed with the cut the 50 meaningless mts files and the output .mts files without recompression. Read The Full Story

As one of the Digital SDL (DSLR) cameras from Canon, the EOS Rebel T3 / EOS 1100D provides outstanding still image and HD videos for the beginners. Compared to Rebel T3i / EOS 600D, and even Rebel T2i / EOS 550D, the price for Rebel T3 / EOS 1100D is much lower. But you would find it a huge value for the money to get clear, crisp true color.
If your Mac computer does not support playing or editing the raw H.264 .mov clips from Canon EOS Rebel T3 / EOS 1100D, you may try to download the x264 QuickTime codec for mac, to see if it would then work perfectly on Mac. Otherwise, you will need to make the H.264 MOV to Mac compatible for iMovie. Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac is the recommended EOS H.264 movie converter on Mac OS X like 10.5 Leopard with PowerPC/Intel and 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Below is the fast guide for you with the simple operation to play Canon EOS Rebel T3 movies on QuickTime, edit EOS videos on iMovie and even FCP. Read The Full Story

Canon camcorders provide simple video editing with cutting and trimming, so that you can get rid of the content without any sense and keep storage for useful recordings. However, when I play the clip on the LCD screen, I find it uneasy to split/cut AVCHD files. Even though Canon Vixia HF R20 is equipped with 3.0″ Touch Panel LCD, the onboard feature of cutting/trimming/dividing video on Canon camcorder would take a long time for preview.
When it comes to Mac computer, things go more complicated as the bundled software in CD is only for Windows. When I googled camcorder software on Mac, some people suggested tsMuxeR, but it does not work on my iMac with Snow Leopard. I find Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac, as the perfect Mac alternative to tsMuxeR on Snow Leopard for joining/cutting AVCHD at best quality. Read The Full Story

I use Canon Vixia HF G10 recording 1920 x 1080 24Mpbs MTS files. I used iMovie to do the original edit on my new Macbook Pro. And I want to burn those files to DVD and play with my Panasonic DVD Player. But as we konw , the MTS it is not a good editing format. So the Canon 1080 24Mbps MTS is still incompatible with Mac iMovie NOW!So if I want to edit Canon Vixia HF G10 24Mpbs .mts video with high quality on Mac, must to convert Canon Vixia HF G10 24Mpbs .mts files to iMovie before editing.
And I use iDVD to create DVD Disc, with keep the output High quality, I need convert my Canon Vixia HF G10 .mts to Apple Intermediate Codec MOV for iMovie, after google search, I found Final Mate for Mac is the recommended can convert Canon Vixia HF G10 MTS to AIC for editing on Mac. Then I download and try it. And I had succeed with the Apple Intermediate Codec at 1920×1080 editing for my iMovie and i’m very satisfied with the output quality after getting the burnt DVD disc when it played on my Panasonic DVD player. Many of digital compact cameras made by Panasonic, such as the DMC-ZS3/DMC-TZ7, DMC-FT1, DMC-FZ35/DMC-FZ38, DMC-FX75/DMC FX70 and DMC-ZS-7/TZ-10 offer 720p video recording with effective frame rate of 25 or 30 frames/s in a format called AVCHD Lite. This AVCHD specification supports 720-line progressive recording mode at frame rates of 24 and 60 frames/s for 60 Hz models and 50 frames/s for 50 Hz models. Compared to HDV 720p, AVCHD uses higher data rate (up to 24 Mbit/s VBR vs. 18.3 Mbit/s CBR) and a more advanced compression format (AVC vs. MPEG-2).
Most of us would choose DMC-TZ10/TZ7/ZS7/FX75/FX70 AVCHD Lite as the recording mode, as it provides high quality videos. However, the compatibility for AVCHD lite and Mac is not very good, it is not easy to read/play/edit movies in this format on Mac, as it requires high configuration to handle DMC-TZ10/TZ7/ZS7/FX75/FX70 AVCHD Lite videos. While looking for the best way to read/edit/play Panasonic AVCHD Lite videos on Mac OS X, I find Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac help making the playing/editing easy and smooth.

I have a Panasonic DMC-FX700 camcorder, which is an excellent compact camera, offering features that few of its rivals can match. It features full 1920 x 1080 50i (25fps interlaced) HD video with stereo audio and its advanced MOS sensor and Venus Engine FHD processor. Its auto focus is excellent and the Leica-branded lens is very good. Nowadays I have recorded some videos with FX700, which creates MTS video files. I would like to find a program to download all these MTS video clips from DMC-FX700 and merge them into one without change any settings or quality for playing with my new Sony SMP-N100, which is Network Audio/Video Player providing an array of on-demand content providers (Netflix, Amazon, Qriocity) at a very accommodating price point.
And this Sony SMP-N100 streaming player supports a large range of media files including MTS format. Here are the supported formats and codecs for Sony SMP-N100:
