I have many HD videos on my external hard drive for playback on the networked media player, Popcorn Hour. The files are in .mts format from different camcorders, Canon HF R20, Lumix TZ7 and Panasonic HDC-HS700. I would like to import them to Final Cut Pro 7 to make a DVD as present.
Even though it is said that FCP supports the AVCHD files from the AVCHD folder structure, I could not get it work via Log & Transfer. When looking for the solution to import AVCHD to FCP from external hard drive, I notice that the problem might be related to the 1080/60p files from HS700. But I could not easy identify which file for 1080i or which for 1080p now. The only solution for me now is to convert AVCHD to Apple ProRes 422 HQ for editing in FCP 7. Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac is the recommended AVCHD to FCP helper on Mac, and it works perfectly with my HD videos. Read The Full Story

As the reason of recent activities, I have a lot of different .mts videos for editing. These .mts video most are from camera, camcorder, like Sony CX700, XR520, Sony Nex-5, Canon HF G10, HG20, HF100, Panasonic HDC-TM90, SD700, Lumix GH2.etc. Some .mts videos can be directly into FCP editing, some not. So in order to edit all mts video on FCP, I need a converter to import and convert various mts. But separating each video conversion is a lot of trouble, so I will need to merge those mts videos into one and convert. Through Google search, I found Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac is the recommended MTS Joiner/Converter- can join and convert mts to FCP for editing on Mac. Then I download and try it. And I had successfully converted a total of 15.8G mts files to MOV and edit on FCP, I choose the Apple ProRes MOV as output format, so that I can import prores mov to fcp without rendering. Read The Full Story

I have Sony NEX-VG10 to shoot videos in AVCHD format, and I have a Blu Ray player (Panasonic DNP-BD60) connected to my TV. Even though, my iMac provides a 24″ display, I prefer watching them on HDTV with the Blu-ray player.
When looking for the straightforward solution without transcoding the footage, I got Final Mate for Mac and Adobe Encore CS5 to complete the process. There is less quality loss when burning AVCHD to Blu-ray Disc on Mac, as no re-encoding is performed at any stage. I used Final Mate to trim and join the m2ts files for lossless output, and then import into Adobe Encore CS5 to author the final blu-ray disk. Read The Full Story

I use Sony HDR-CX700 for recording 1920 x 1080 MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 MTS files. And I have a WD TV Live plus player and a WD TV Live Hub. I use WD TV Live Plus Player to watch my cx700v camcorder recording mts files. Because of some pause in the process of recording, ssome mts files need to be joined into one big file. After google search, I downloaded a trial version of the tsmuxer, so I could merge my mts files together on my Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. The process of merged files goes without mistake through tsmuxer program, but when I use the stream and play the lossless output mts files on WD TV Live plus player, the files only play the first 10 seconds.
I asked for some help to fix problem playing joined mts to wd tv on some forums and was recommended to try to convert the Sony cx700v mts to MP4 . So I search a best quality mts converter, some people recommended to try Final Mate for Mac which can help me to convert and merge mts files with highest quality. And I download a free trial version of Final Mate for Mac, so I could convert and join my Sony cx700 .mts files together. The files play fine without any problem. It offers the one fastest way to convert and combine MTS files into big one for further streaming and playing on WD TV Live plus player with perfect quality . Read The Full Story

If you copy the AVCHD folder from HD camcorder to the external hard drive, you may notice that there is delay/pause between the playback of each file on HDTV while streaming .through Popcorn Hour C-200. It is the re-initialization pauses between each clip, and it even happens to most network media players like HDI Dune, PS3 Xtreamer Pro, AC Ryan PlayOn, TVIX, and so on.
To fix sequential playback pause between MTS files on Popcorn Hour C200, or say other media players, one of the solutions is to stitch/join the files together on PC or Mac. However, I would like to put some clips together and cut some useless segments and get videos in WebM format. The Sony DSC-TX100V another option for 1920 x 1080/60i which equates to 60 interlaced fields per second, but the video quality of 60i recording mode is not better than 60p mode, so personally i prefer to choose 1080/60p for recording mts footage. So if I want to edit Sony DSC-TX100V 1080/60p .mts video with 60fps high quality for iMovie 11 on Mac, must to convert Sony DSC-TX100V 1080/60p .mts files to iMovie 11 before editing.
The windows version of PMB (Picture Motion Browser) for Sony camcorders doesn’t work well, and there is rare satisfied AVCHD merging software on the market, after searched, I found a professional AVCHD Joiner, which can be used as Sony MTS Joiner for Plasma TV. In Sony’s slightly convoluted DSLR line-up it is firmly located in the mid-level bracket, competing with cameras such as the Canon EOS 600D/Rebel T3i and Nikon D5100.Sony DSLR-A580 cameras can record 1080p full HD movies and deliver 7 fps in continuous shooting mode. (1920×1080/30p and 1920×1080/60i ).
For edit Sony DSLR-A580 1080p AVCHD footages on Mac, you will use Final Cut Express.
