The new revolutionary Sony A55 ILC Camera Review

Owners of Sony’s Alpha series cameras will be happy to hear that Sony is planning to launch seven interchangeable lenses from now till 2012. Currently there are only three lenses that are compatible with the camera’s E-mount and as such Sony will be releasing a wide-angle single focus lens, single focus macro lens, single focus portrait lens, and telephoto lens under the Carl Zeiss brand name in 2011, followed by a zoom lens, wide-angle zoom lens, and single focus mid-range lens under the “G Lens” label in 2012. Mock ups of these upcoming lenses were already exhibited during Photokina 2010.

Sony unveiled the new Alpha A55 last month. The Sony  A55 features a new technology using a translucent mirror. Using the new technology, the Sony Alpha a55 (and also the a33) can continuously and quickly focus (with TTL phase-detection) while shooting stills and recording video–even in full HD, allowing desired moments to be captured in tack sharp focus, high-definition video.
Quote: “All right. Sony’s A55 camera  adopts a new spin on a decades-old photographic idea: the mirror is translucent. It splits light between the focusing sensor and the image sensor — all the time. The mirror never has to flip up to take a picture, so the autofocus never goes blind when you take a shot.As a result, the camera can shoot an incredible 10 shots a second, refocusing all the way. Sony says no other camera in the world can do that.” Read the full A55 report on the NY Times.

The Sony A55 will go on sale next month for around $850 with a lens.
