I have AVCHD videos from a Panasonic HDC-HS250 in 1080i with 30fps as source footage, and would like to edit in iMovie for future sharing with my relatives and friends at home, or upload for web sharing. However, I could not import the .mts videos to iMovie.
I googled and find Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac a good solution with fast conversion from Panasonic MTS to MOV for iMovie. The most important feature of the Mac MTS to MOV converter is the deinterlacing function. I can keep original high definition file and perform perfect playback on iMac without interlacing artifacts.

If you have AVCHD camcorders like Panasonic HDC-TM700, HDC-TM350, Sony HDR-CX110, HDR-SR5, Canon HF S200 and face problem editing the HD videos in iMovie or FCP, just keep reading and you will find the easy steps for converting MTS/M2TS to MOV.
It is quick easy to convert MTS to H.264 MOV for editing with iMovie on Mac Snow Leopard. Soon after transferring .mts files from Panasonic HDC-HS250 to Apple hard drive, just run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac as the Mac Panasonic MTS converter, and click the “Add” button to load .mts videos. Then click the “Format” option and move mouse cursor to Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas > MOV (AVC) (*.mov). The last step for conversion is to click the start button under the preview window. The Panasonic HDC-HS250 MTS converter will transcode MTS to MOV with H.264 as video codec for editing on iMac.

PS:
The Mac Panasonic MTS converter will deinterlace 1080i videos by default. If you want to join MTS files, just click the checkbox for “Merge into one file” before starting conversion, and the video clips will be combined with one single file as output. The output H.264 MOV videos could also be imported to Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer for editing, to QuickTime Player for playback on iMac or MacBook Pro.
