It was okay when one side was passive, and rode it out Ghandi-style, against active racism in exchange for passive racism. But this isn’t REALLY about race. It’s about ideology.
It is hard to believe the Republican party wishes harm to Americans that can’t get health care because they either can’t afford it or have a prexisting condition that won’t allow the care they need. I would hope to work for the better of my fellow man or woman no matter what party they are hell or own soldiers won’t turn away a foreign insurgent that is dieing i guess profit before life should be there motto?
You can read more of my columns and e-mail me if you wish. For them, this is not The Truman Show is a spectacle of horror.
This is my column for The Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles.
For them it is a fight to the death.
Of course, it is not a sport or a show at the drug industry, the insurance industry, industry of the hospital or any of the other stakeholders, with Hundreds of billions of dollars at risk.
Unfortunately, it is also a fight to the death for many Americans who can not pay the premiums, can not afford drugs, and can not get insured.
I’d hate to see one party rule and I’d hate to see inter-party violence. But if we DON’T put forward some major change, the next civilization will look at our ruins and wonder what the hell Ronald Reagan was thinking. And, as is everything in the 21st century, it will happen a lot faster than anyone could imagine.
There is bound to be more strife. There is so much change happening at one time, yet, honestly, not enough.
America has enjoyed a lot of fun for a long time… well, at least some of America. I can see it getting as violent as the civil rights movement, except this violence will be two ways, not just directed at the progressives.
Why is the Republican Party at present so completely opposed to healthcare reform. I don’t remember any Republican President or member of Congress, from Pres. Eisenhower to the present, who proposed such reform. Additionally, how many people without any healthcare are opposed to this reform?
The Far Right will just use race as the fuse. Ideology the explosive. Media the accelerant.
Republicans, eventually, will go the way of the Whig- they are overplaying their hand and refuse to grow, change, and adapt.
At least the dream was open to those who really really worked hard, and with a bit of luck or blessing, made the dream come true. Now the party is over, and it’s time to get to work.
The “us against them” race game has been played for far too long in this country.
