What is the best digital camera to buy?

iPhone, DVD Ripper, or simply a DVD to iPod Converter and computer. As for DVD Ripper, there are a lot of choices but I suggest you to try Pavtube DVD Ripper or DVD to iPhone Converter program. It is easy to use and it is 50% right now.
At your reasonable price, you will not getting the best still or video. The cameras in that price range are all P&S, thus have very small sensors, about 15 times smaller than a DSLR.
A P&S camera, shooting at some of the highest video resolutions available (1280 x 720) is only going to be using 1 mp of the available pixels on the cameras sensor. Not very high quality in any ones book.
On the other hand for between $800 to $1000 for a body only, you can step up to one of the mid-range Nikon or Canon DSL R’s which include a video feature, but then you would have to add the cost of a lens too.
So, you can get a camera at a reasonable price, but with so, so still and video performance or you can get a camera with not the best, but very good still and video quality, however doing that will blow your budget.
It is your money and your quality assessment that counts here. You can either make do with the lower quality and save for the camera you want or just bite the bullet and spend the money now for what you really want.
You can do your research here.
well as u said u want to look at options

Then before you buy anything, take a SD card into a store that sells the cameras you have decided on and shoot some test shots, take the SD card home and look at the results on your big computer monitor. You will know for sure then, which is the best for you
there is the nikon d40 for around 400-500 it come with a 18-55 kit lens
witch is good for most people
this is a great camera to learn from(i did)
it is very affordable and consumer friendly
if you want to extend the range you can add the 55-200 vr for under 200 bucks more
and for a nice fixed portrait lens there is the new nikon 55mm af-s f1.4 for about 300 or so….this lens will give that nice blur background that most people seek…and unlike the older version of this lens
The main point you should have is that your camera is an SLR—single lens reflex. Because you can change lenses, which help to give your photos different kinds of perspective over the usual ‘normal’ lens. Telephoto or wide angle lenses make a big difference in photos, to be different and challenging.
Since it’s a digital SLR is only because of modern technology.
