To set it up to not sync automatically, connect it to your computer and in iTunes click the Summary tab. Then un-check “Automatically Sync when iPhone is connected.” This stops iTunes from coming up when you connect iPhone. You can still start it manually if you need to sync it later.
This is a great camera. Just bought it a week ago, took it to Hawaii and found out what great pictures it takes. The photos have good color, clarity, saturation and look very natural. I only had to tweak a couple of pictures with the included software which is very good as well.
The night snapshots worked very well as long as you don’t zoom in. Probably the most surprising feature was the video (movie) mode. All the movies I took turned out extremely well for a point & shoot camera. Even some night time shots at the Luau of a fire dancer where almost all the lights were off was good. Not as good as a dedicated video camera, but for having to carry only one camera – it was more than acceptable. Overall I love it – would recommend to anyone.
The Osprey is a great backpack two of my kids have them for collage. Since you have that bag I would suggest for the Camera body and a lens in this type of bag:
And then get for your additional lenses.
Pros: Small, easy point and shoot, start up time about 1.5-2 sec. Shot to shot about 2 sec with settings about middle for picture quality. Video really works well. Battery lasted almost 5 days (about 250 pics and 15 1-3 min videos). Nice sized LCD and many manual features which I didn’t use many of except for night snapshot. 5x optical zoom – larger than most in this class.
Cons: Have to take battery out of camera to charge. Wish shot to shot time was a little faster, but is acceptable.

You are asking for a fair bit there. Most digital cameras that are available for purchase these days have a video resolution of 320 x 240 or 640 x 480.
This is a fairly low resolution for video but is still decent quality. If you are prepared to go out of your budget there are other more expensive cameras with a higher video recording resolution.
